Making Hoops

I did something fun and easier than I expected today.. I made my own hula hoops! All you need is the following:

- 1/2", 3/4", OR 1" irrigation tubing from a garden supply store - at least about 10', but I think you can make it bigger (I want to make a bigger one now! - I used 10' of 3/4" tubing for the ones I made today)
- a connector to go with your tubing (the garden store should sell these)
- some hot water or a hair dryer (I boiled a pot of hot water and poured it into a jar that I coudl dip the ends of my hoop into)
- something to cut the tubing with if you buy it longer than you need (to make lots of hoops!) - I used the little saw on my swiss army knife
- 1/4 c - 1c of water to pour inside your hoop to make it heavier and swooshy (I used about 1/2c)
- some electrical tape in pretty colours for wrapping around the outside
- that's it!

all you do is cut your tubing to the desired length, dip an end in the hot water for a few seconds to soften it up a bit, stick one end of the connector in, add the water to your hoop, stick the other end in the hot water, attach the connector to complete the hoop. Then tape it so it looks purty.

here's a pic of my favourite hoop I made (inspired by the bumblebee):
